Currently, the Government of Indonesia is working on simplifying the immigration policy and attracting business to the country. By the end of 2023, the state plans to launch a new program for investors - the "golden visa".

Prerequisites for launching the golden visa program in Indonesia
The reason for the launch of the investment visa to Indonesia was the goal of the country's government to create 4.4 million new jobs by the end of 2024. The permit is designed to attract talented entrepreneurs from all over the world to the state. Focus on healthcare, research and technology.
The initiative was announced during the G20 summit in Bali last year.
Advantages of the golden visa in Bali
Applicants who will participate in the "golden visa" investment program will be able to obtain a permanent residence permit for 5 or 10 years. Investors will reportedly have the following benefits:
1. The right to own real estate in Bali.
Bali is a great place to buy property for both a second home and an investment, as the island is not only a good place to live, it is also ranked 4th in the world for investment attractiveness.
Real estate in Bali has one of the highest yields in the world. On average, 15% per year, without taking into account the increase in the cost of housing. For comparison, the average real estate yield in the world is 5%. The cost of rent on the island increases by 15-20% per year on average. Purchased housing can be repaid in 5-6 years.

When will the golden visa program start in Indonesia?
Initially, the "golden visa in Indonesia" program was planned to be launched in June 2023, but due to certain administrative difficulties, the launch was postponed. Currently, the start of the project is expected by the end of 2023.
Amount of investment for obtaining a golden visa to Indonesia
Two types of attachments are available for obtaining a "golden visa":
1. Starting a business in Indonesia:
- residence permit for 5 years - amount of authorized capital from 2.5 million dollars;
- visa for 10 years - investment amount from 5 million dollars.
For corporate investors, the investment amount must exceed $25 million to obtain a five-year visa or $50 million to obtain a 10-year permit.
2. Purchase of government bonds in Indonesia - investment amount from 350,000 to 700,000 US dollars.
What other types of long-term residence permits are available in Indonesia?
- Visa for permanent residence in Indonesia
This permit can also be issued for 5 or 10 years. Applicants are required to provide proof of income outside of Indonesia, as well as to show their savings - provide a bank statement where the amount in the account must exceed 2 billion Indonesian rupiah (about 130,537 US dollars).
The visa is aimed at retirees and investors who plan to buy real estate in Indonesia.
- Visa for digital nomads
Freelancers who choose Indonesia as their country of temporary residence apply for a B211a visa, which allows remote workers to stay in the country for six months. However, the Government of Indonesia is currently developing a five-year residence permit for digital nomads.
- Visa on arrival
The permit gives the right to stay in the country for 30 days, it can also be extended once for 30 days. The registration fee is 500,000 Indonesian rupiah (US$32).
Bali is a fabulous place that attracts expats from different parts of the world.
