A strike is quite common in Europe. Workers often refuse to perform their duties in order to draw attention to their problems, to fight for better conditions or higher wages.
Most strikes are usually warned in advance, but there are some that are announced at the last second.

Strike in the Paris Metro, France
The Rugby World Cup will be held in Paris at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis until October 28, during which the Paris Metro workers are threatening to go on strike.
Members of the FO-RATP union, which represents public transport workers in Paris, say that the metro management approved additional bonuses for train drivers, but this was not provided for station workers. That is why people threaten not to go to work. Negotiations are currently underway.
Strike at Heathrow Airport, Great Britain
For 13 days in October, workers at the baggage carousel at London's Heathrow Airport will go on strike.
The workers did not work from October 6 to 9, the next stage - from October 20 to 30. This period just coincides with the season of active autumn business trips. Workers will be closed from 5:30 a.m. on October 20th to 6:00 a.m. on October 30th.
The reason for the strike was the low level of wages. Unite union members working at Vanderlande Industries say the proposed pay rises are below inflation.
