From today, changes to the legislation will come into effect in Ireland, according to which it will be much easier to get a work permit, because the employment system has become more flexible.

Such changes were adopted in order to meet the needs of the labor market and retain the talent already working in the country.

What has changed in the procedure for obtaining a work permit in Ireland?

The approved changes affected different categories of permits:

1. A certain number of employees received the right to change employers after nine months of employment.

2. A new work permit for seasonal workers has been introduced, in particular, this change is aimed at supporting the agricultural sector.

3. The conditions for the career growth of foreigners have been simplified, in particular, from now on, on the basis of a work permit, foreigners will be able to advance in the service, without the need to obtain a new permit.

New work permit quota for certain sectors

As part of simplifying the procedure for obtaining a work permit, quotas were introduced in Ireland for two categories of workers:

- 500 work permits for the care sector;

- 250 work permits will be issued to workers engaged in the construction of overhead lines.

To move, travel or work safely in a new country, you will need health insurance. You can apply for an extended policy on our website here.
