Citizens of any country in the world who have a valid US visa can travel to Mexico without the need to apply for a separate visa.


What are the conditions for traveling to Mexico with a US visa?


1. Visa category: Only foreigners who have issued one of the US non-immigrant multiple entry visas – B1, B2, B1/B2, F1, J1, H1 and L1 – have the right to enter Mexico.


2. You must have a valid US visa and have used it at least once to enter the US.


3. Permitted period of stay: 180 days.


4. No prior approval is required.


5. Additional requirements: visa and passport must be valid for the entire period of stay in Mexico.


Can I visit Mexico on a US H1B visa?


The US H1B visa for skilled foreign workers allows you to enter Mexico for tourism or business purposes without the need to obtain a visa first.


General requirements for tourists traveling to Mexico


- All foreigners, regardless of nationality, are required to present a valid and unexpired passport or travel document when entering Mexico (by air, land or sea).

- The Mexican government additionally requires that your passport be valid for the duration of your trip.


Who else will not need a Mexican visa, regardless of citizenship


Any person belonging to one of the following categories may also enter Mexico without the need for a visa:


1. If you are a permanent resident of one of the following countries: Canada, the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom, any of the countries of the Schengen area and any of the member countries of the Pacific Alliance.

Conditions: You do not need a visa to enter Mexico for tourism, business or transit purposes. All persons in this category must present a valid and expired resident card together with their passport. Both documents must be valid for the duration of your stay in Mexico.


2. If you have a valid and unexpired visa of the following countries: Canada, the United States of America, Japan, Great Britain and any of the countries of the Schengen zone.

Conditions: You do not need a visa to enter Mexico for tourism, business or transit purposes. All persons in this category must present a valid and unexpired visa together with their passport. Both documents must be valid for the duration of your stay in Mexico.


3. If the US visa in your passport or your resident card has expired, but you have an official document or form proving your legal status in the US, you must apply for a Mexican visa at the link.


4. Foreigners from any country traveling to Mexico for vacation or visiting Mexican seaports on a cruise are not required to obtain a visa or consular stamp. The passenger must have a valid and unexpired passport or travel document.
