In Kyrgyzstan, there is a fairly high rate of drug-resistant tuberculosis. This is a serious threat to human health and safety. The sanitary and epidemiological situation in terms of infectious and parasitic diseases in Kyrgyzstan is stable. In addition to tuberculosis, typical diseases in the country are intestinal infections, viral hepatitis A, brucellosis, salmonellosis, and echinococcosis.

Another infectious disease that poses a considerable danger in the country is HIV. The prevalence of the disease is less than one percent of the total population, however, the incidence continues to grow. Also one of the highest in the region is the level of maternal and child mortality. The maternal mortality ratio practically does not fall below 47 cases per 100,000 live births.

Medical service

A complex healthcare system operates in the territory of Kyrgyzstan, which includes the state, municipal and private healthcare sectors. The country has a well-developed network of public hospitals and private clinics. In rural areas, first-aid posts and mobile clinics have been deployed, but their resources are limited. There is a certain shortage of basic medications, medicines, and disposable devices.
