How to get a grant or scholarship to study?

Obtaining a scholarship to study abroad requires dedication and certain achievements from applicants. Most often, such scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate high academic results, participate in international and national competitions, and have certain scientific or professional achievements. There are several types of scholarships:

- Scholarships from universities: intended for active and talented students;

- Government scholarships: for example, the Fulbright Scholar Program in the United States, Chevening Scholarships in the United Kingdom, or the Endeavour Leadership Program in Australia;

- Scholarships from private organizations: funded by foundations or associations;

- Sports scholarships: awarded to students for outstanding achievements in sports.

Scholarship requirements may vary depending on the organization that provides it. In addition to educational documents, you may be required to provide certificates of foreign language proficiency, a motivation letter, resume, publications in scientific journals, a portfolio of work, or a GMAT certificate.

It is also important to note that many universities offer internal scholarships and partnership programs in addition to grants. They are usually targeted at highly specialized specialists or graduate students, which opens up additional opportunities for financing study abroad.

2. Fulbright Scholar Program. One of the most famous scholarship programs in the United States. 3. DAAD. Scholarship to study in Germany. This program is aimed at graduates of Ukrainian universities who already have a qualification level (bachelor's degree and above) and wish to obtain postgraduate or master's education at state universities in Germany. Applications are accepted in early November.

4. Erasmus Mundus. A program of the European Commission designed for students after the second year of study and teachers who wish to participate in exchange programs in Europe. It provides an opportunity to study at several European universities during one course.

5. Gates Cambridge Scholarship. A scholarship to study at the University of Cambridge in the UK. The program covers the costs of postgraduate education in any discipline offered at the university. In addition to the above programs, other countries such as Sweden, Australia, and Canada also offer attractive educational programs and scholarships for international students.

Applicants seeking to study abroad may also consider enrolling in a paid program with the option of applying for a scholarship or grant later. It is important to note that some European universities offer tuition at an affordable price - from 200 to 500 euros per semester, which makes getting an education abroad even more realistic.

Useful tips for finding grants and scholarships for higher education abroad

Studying abroad is a dream come true for many students. However, the financial costs can be a significant obstacle. Luckily, there are many grants and scholarships available to help cover tuition, living expenses, and other needs. Visit World has prepared some tips to help you find an educational grant to study abroad:

1. Analyze the available opportunities

Start with a thorough research of scholarships and grants provided by both international and national organizations. Pay attention to universities offering financial support to international students, as well as government programs in the countries where you plan to study. University websites often contain information about available scholarships, so be sure to check the sections for international students.

2. Use online platforms

Many online platforms specialize in finding scholarships and grants. Resources such as Scholarship Portal, Study Portals, DAAD, Fulbright, and Erasmus+ can be great tools for finding suitable funding programs.

3. Pay attention to special programs

Some scholarships are available for students of certain specialties, nationalities, or for those engaged in research in specific fields. If you have unique skills or are engaged in research, there may be programs that support your field of study.

4. Prepare thoroughly for the competition

Most scholarships and grants are fiercely competitive, so it is important to prepare properly. Take care of a well-prepared motivation letter, recommendations from teachers or employers, and a resume. Some programs may require additional documents, such as a portfolio of work or test results. Therefore, you should familiarize yourself with the requirements in advance.
