According to the EURES report for 2023, Italy is facing a significant labor shortage in 37 professions. The main reason for this is the aging of the population, which makes the country increasingly dependent on foreign workers.

Currently, Italy is experiencing an acute shortage of personnel in the following professions:

1. Welders and gas cutters

2. Bakers, confectioners and confectionery manufacturers

3. Employees of catering counters

4. Health care assistants

5. Technicians in medical imaging and therapeutic equipment

6. Employees in the field of personal services

7. Computer, network and system technicians

8. Doctors and engineering and technical workers

9. Software and application developers and analysts

According to forecasts, the largest labor shortage in Italy in 2023-2027 will be among nurses, physiotherapists and other qualified professionals in the field of health and social services.

It is estimated that 34.3% of the total labor demand will be for specialists with higher education, while 48.1% will be for specialists with secondary technical education. Due to the aging of the population, Italy will need a significant number of foreign workers.

According to the IDOS research center, the country will need to attract at least 280,000 foreign specialists every year until 2050 to fill the personnel shortage and ensure the economy's stable development and social services.

We remind you! Italy is a country with a rich culture and history, whose fantastic landscapes attract tourists and expats from all over the world. The country is a leader in terms of the number of migrants, and it also has the highest rates of residence permits in the EU.
