Airfares for the summer of 2024 indicate that travel will be at an all-time high. According to a recent study, 50% of Americans plan to travel more often than in 2023. This means we are likely to see crowded airports and tired travelers.

Experienced travelers develop their own methods of planning and organizing their trips. However, even for people who travel frequently, some aspects of travel preparation can remain challenging. There are special apps that can make your life much easier while traveling.

PackPoint

PackPoint greatly simplifies the process of packing your suitcase, making it an easy and organized task. This app personalizes your packing list based on your destination and planned activities. All you have to do is download the app, select your destination and enter information about your trip, including its duration and time of year.

PackPoint will then provide you with suitcase packing recommendations based on the weather at your destination and your planned activities. The app even takes into account small details such as whether there is access to laundry facilities at your destination.

TripIt

TripIt automatically tracks your confirmation emails for flight itineraries, hotel or Airbnb reservations, car rentals, restaurant reservations, and even event tickets. This app collects all your travel plans into one convenient itinerary that you can view in one place.

This easy-to-use organizational app makes it easy to share consolidated information with family or friends. You can send them your itinerary directly, which will help you avoid repeated messages like: “When are you landing again?”, making it easier to coordinate airport pickups.

TripIt also has a personalized travel statistics page for those who like to analyze data. It allows you to track the number of trips taken and countries visited. All these features are available in the free version.

The pro version of TripIt costs $49 per year and includes additional features such as real-time flight alerts, TSA wait times, and loyalty program updates. Thanks to these features, TripIt becomes an indispensable tool for travelers, ensuring comfort and organization during their trips.

Rome2rio

Rome2Rio is a convenient European transport search application that helps you plan your trip by comparing different routes between your desired destinations. It offers a wide range of transportation options, including buses, trains, trams, ferries and flights. However, unlike Omio, this app does not display the exact fare, providing only approximate amounts.

Rome2Rio is one of the best route planning apps because it provides all the information you need to get from point A to point B. Just enter your starting point and destination and it shows you all the possible ways to get there - by plane, car, bus or train. It will also indicate how long each option will take and the approximate cost of travel.

If your route includes public transportation, Rome2Rio will show you the specific buses and trains you need to take, as well as alternatives in case you miss your transportation. The app will redirect you to the relevant ticket booking websites, making it easy to organize your trip.

Priority Pass

Some premium credit cards, such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve and American Express Platinum, provide cardholders with Priority Pass membership. This program provides access to more than 1,300 airport lounges worldwide. I have a Priority Pass membership through my credit card, which allows me to visit these lounges even when flying in economy class. The problem is that I often lose my membership card. This is where the mobile app comes in.

This app allows you to “save” your card on your phone and present it electronically. In addition, the app helps you find suitable lounges and discounts at airports, pointing out the available amenities upon arrival.

Rain Rain

Traveling by public transport can be stressful and uncomfortable, so you need to find a way to relax in such moments, and Rain Rain can be your reliable ally. This free app for iOS and Android offers dozens of sounds, including nine variations of rain and realistic soundtracks from Mississippi at Night to The Aquarium.

Here you can find the gentle chimes of the wind or the ticking of an alarm clock, as well as create your own sound combinations, such as “Car in the Rain” by combining it with “Cicadas.” The app offers you the convenience of setting a time limit for the sounds to mute automatically, and most importantly, there are no ads to disturb your peace at this important moment.

Google Maps

Google Maps is an indispensable tool for travelers around the world. Its unique functionality and reliability are noteworthy. It provides a wide range of useful features: high-quality mapping functions, real-time traffic conditions, and route calculation for different types of transport.

The 360° street view, satellite images, and aerial photography are also available to help you get a preliminary assessment of the area. The Explore function allows you to find the objects you need: pharmacies, hospitals, ATMs, gas stations, etc.

It is especially convenient to use Google Maps offline by downloading maps. This allows you not to lose your way even in places where there is no Internet access.

Thanks to the possibility of alternative routes in case of traffic jams, Google Maps becomes an indispensable tool for travel planning, especially in Europe, where traffic jams are not uncommon.

Citymapper

CityMapper compares public transportation options in major European cities. This app compares different route options, including walking and cycling routes, buses, trains, trams, and taxis, taking into account the duration and exact time of the trip.

Save your routes for later access, even without internet. Citymapper works in 40 cities around the world, from Copenhagen to Tokyo, offering a variety of routes and alternative routes. The app displays maps, fares, and travel times broken down by each mode of transportation.

It is worth noting that Citymapper takes into account the accessibility of city routes for people in wheelchairs, helping to create a comfortable and accessible city for all its residents.

Forget about the stress of spending money - enjoy traveling with your friends, knowing that all expenses are controlled and distributed fairly and conveniently.

Skyscanner

Skyscanner compares prices for airfare, hotels, and car rentals from different sites, helping you get more for your next trip abroad. With its simple and efficient interface, you get access to comprehensive information on one platform.

This app has become an indispensable tool when traveling to Europe, Southeast Asia, and Australia. Select your desired destination and then view the price chart for the entire month. Skyscanner will tell you the cheapest days to travel, helping you find the best airfare. Now you can realize your travel dreams knowing that your budget will remain under control.
