What needs to be done in order to come to the country for education

Please note that each island in the archipelago has its own rules for visiting, so first decide on the university and its location, and then deal with the visa process. If you plan to move between the islands, you will need to pay an exit tax of 15 - 20 dollars each time.

If your study period is longer than 30 days, you must apply for a visa before arriving on the islands. Or obtain an entry permit for up to 1 year for US passport holders, and 90 days for citizens of other countries.

If you are studying for more than 30 days and enrolling at a university, you will need to apply for a student permit before arriving in Micronesia. Otherwise, you will need an entry permit (up to 1 year for US passport holders, 90 days for nationals of other countries).

According to other educational institutions, this amount starts from 10,000 dollars.

Opportunities for free training

You can contact the university and find out about the possibility of receiving grants or financial aid for students. There are also on-campus student employment programs to cover their expenses.

Since Micronesia is not a very common study destination for foreigners, there are not many international scholarships available specifically for education there.

Training system

There are four levels: preschool education for children aged 3–5 years, primary education for children aged 6–13 years, secondary education for children aged 14–18 years, and higher school.

Higher education is not very common among citizens of Micronesia. Education up to the 8th grade is mandatory, and most of them finish their studies then. In total, up to 1,000 citizens study at the country's universities. Next, citizens choose various advanced training courses.

The course of obtaining a bachelor's degree is 2 - 3 years, depending on the specialty. Master's degree 1 year

Educational programs

There are special programs for foreigners. For the most part, these areas are oceanography, marine biology, and other natural sciences. These are educational programs mostly from US universities or private organizations. Most of the programs open to international students are summer programs or academic travel programs, so you should consider whether you need an educational visa.

These programs are paid, and accommodation and meals are paid for by you.
